EIKON EMPOWERMENT CENTER

EIKON is a church and nonprofit that addresses the root causes of poverty in Oakland by empowering vulnerable individuals and families through action-driven paradigms.  EIKON exists to empower the lives of the underserved and the oppressed through the love of God so that each person can experience abundant life.

EIKON has acquired a three-level, 11,000 square foot property within District 3 on Telegraph AVE (2505 Telegraph AVE, Oakland, CA 94612).  We plan to leverage this property as a multipurpose empowerment facility that provides the following services to the most vulnerable:

  • As a multipurpose events facility that hosts church gatherings, concerts and community events. EIKON plans to use jobs created by these gatherings as work opportunities for individuals participating in program.

  • An emergency shelter facility that can provide families and individuals in crisis 1) short-term safe haven shelter 2) job training, educational resourcing (i.e. computer lab, coding school, resume training) and 3) economic empowerment resources.

  • A proposed recreation center development that would provide physical health and wellness resources for fitness, fun and personal life transformation for vulnerable adults and in-risk youth.

  • A commercial kitchen for culinary training, community meals, and a donation-based cafe.

EIKON provides structure and trained staff that can equip beneficiaries:

  • Spiritual well being - trauma informed support, personal needs assessment and recovery support.

  • Mentorship - EIKON provides job training, professional counseling, resume building and one on one coaching for program participants.

  • Leadership training which guides participants dealing with marred identity into a healthy view of self and vision of life in all its fullness.

We are developing the following spaces and are seeking partners to help us complete this vision:

  • Community Kitchen

  • Recreation Center

  • Computer Lab

  • Extended Bathrooms and Shower Spaces

  • Shelter Beds
